A year on from transitioning into an employee-owned company, SA Group is reflecting on the journey so far, and what it means to its workforce. Employee-owned businesses in the UK are on the rise as the sector passed the 1,000 milestone in June which is more than doubled over the past three years.
Founded in 2009, SA Group has grown to over 60 employees and associates, boasting a wide range of in-house skills including Systems Engineers, Agile Project Managers, Technical Architects and Cyber Security Advisors. Employee ownership requires no financial input but creates an incentive for employees to be engaged in the growth of the business.
The transition process was smooth for SA Group, with business disruption minimised, and the culture constantly improving to reflect each staff member being an owner of the company. SA Group continues to remain independent with its main focus on clients, whilst pursuing a vision to enable the future of secure communication with digital expertise.
Jeremy Osborne, Company Director said: “We are now one year into our transition to full Employee Ownership, and the Board is delighted with how it is progressing. We regularly update our staff about the benefits of being an EOT, and as a result, staff retention and recruitment have improved.”
